Science & Data

From environmental signals to explainable guidance

HiAir turns available, time-stamped environmental inputs into everyday wellness guidance without pretending that a score can diagnose health or guarantee safety.

1

Collect

Use available time-stamped weather and air-quality inputs from Open-Meteo for the selected location, with recent cached values used for resilience.

2

Interpret

Consider heat, humidity, AQI, particles, ozone, UV and wind where available, alongside the activity and optional sensitivity settings.

3

Explain

Show a clear level, reason codes and practical wellness actions for the relevant time window.

4

Stay honest

Label missing, stale or unavailable information instead of silently manufacturing certainty.

Data availability and updates

HiAir requests live environmental data and may use a recent cached observation when the provider is temporarily unavailable. The app labels the source state. Pollen and smoke appear only where coverage exists; unavailable inputs remain unavailable instead of being shown as safe zeros.

What the score means

The risk score is a deterministic wellness-planning aid. It combines available environmental factors with the profile and activity context you choose, then returns a level, reason codes and possible actions. Optional AI can explain already-computed results but does not invent environmental measurements or the score.

Safety boundaries

  • Wellness guidance only; no diagnosis or treatment.
  • Official local warnings take priority.
  • No emergency prediction or emergency response.
  • Environmental data and forecasts can be incomplete or delayed.
  • Optional wearable summaries add context, not medical conclusions.

Privacy principles

Location and Apple Health access are optional. HiAir uses daily and hourly wearable summaries only after explicit system permission and does not sell personal data for advertising.
